This Will Destroy Your Ears voit le jour en 2018 dans les Landes et part aussitôt sur les routes anglaises, partageant la scène avec USA Nails, JOHN ou Black Midi. Cette première tournée, dans un vieux Renault Master surnommé Georges par les Anglais, donne le ton : frontal, sans détour et farouchement DIY.
En 2019, le groupe enregistre son premier album, CLEAR, avec Dorian Verdier (JC Satàn) et Boris Lehachoir, dans leur repaire d’Angresse baptisé pARPAINg, avant de le faire mixer à Londres par Wayne Adams (Petbrick, Green Lung). Le disque sort sur Cowboy À La Mode, label fondé par le groupe himself. Naviguant entre scènes françaises et britanniques, This Will Destroy Your Ears enchaîne concerts, rencontres et collaborations. En 2022, il participe à À TOI À MOI, un maxi 45 tours de « mélangisme musical » réunissant Shoefiti (FR), The Eurosuite (UK) et Naguals (UK).
La même année, le groupe décroche un accompagnement parrainé par The Inspector Cluzo. Les tournées reprennent (LIFE en sera), et Everybody Knows Mickey voit le jour : un second album enregistré avec Henri D’Armancourt (Steve Amber, The Psychotic Monks), mixé par Alex Greaves (Heavy Lungs, LICE) et sorti chez Cowboy À La Mode, À Tant Rêver Du Roi (FR) et Brutalist Records (UK). L’album reçoit un accueil enthousiaste des deux côtés de la Manche et attire l’attention de la presse nationale.
Entre 2022 et 2024, le trio multiplie les dates aux côtés de Slift, METZ, Frustration, Pogo Car Crash Control, PENICHE ou encore Stuffed Foxes, peaufinant une esthétique live brute, abrasive, parfois tendre — et souvent bruyante. Parce que oui, This Will Destroy Your Ears aiment beaucoup les gens… ils ont juste tendance à leur dire beaucoup trop fort.
En parallèle, ils construisent Recording United, leur propre studio d’enregistrement, niché au cœur du tiers-lieu Kontainer, dans les Landes — un espace de création autant inspiré par la Factory de Warhol que par l’activisme DIY de Death By Audio.
Leur troisième album, FUNLAND, est le premier entièrement enregistré dans ce lieu. Inspiré de leurs virées anglaises, et en particulier de Blackpool — station balnéaire en Technicolor délavé — le disque tire son nom d’un parc d’attractions à la dérive : un mix improbable mais magique de machines à sous mourantes, de clowns tristes et de néons blafards. Une carte postale de cauchemar pop, quelque part entre David Lynch et Stephen King.
Produit et mixé par Ben Hampson (DITZ, Lambrini Girls), masterisé par Katie Tavini (Bloc Party, Los Bitchos), FUNLAND sortira le 10 octobre 2025 chez Luik Music (BE), À Tant Rêver Du Roi (FR), Cowboy À La Mode et Conicle Records (en K7, évidemment).

This Will Destroy Your Ears were born in 2018 in the southwest of France and hit the UK roads straight away, sharing stages with USA Nails, JOHN, and Black Midi. That first tour—in a battered Renault Master affectionately nicknamed Georges by the Brits—set the tone: loud, raw, no-nonsense, and fiercely DIY.
In 2019, the band recorded their debut album CLEAR with Dorian Verdier (JC Satàn) and Boris Lehachoir in their self-built Angresse HQ, pARPAINg, before having it mixed in London by Wayne Adams (Petbrick, Green Lung). It was released on their own label, Cowboy À La Mode. Moving back and forth between the French and UK scenes, This Will Destroy Your Ears kept gigging, collaborating, and growing. In 2022, they took part in À TOI À MOI, a 12″ split celebrating “musical mingling,” alongside Shoefiti (FR), The Eurosuite (UK), and Naguals (UK).
That same year, they received support from The Inspector Cluzo and hit the road again (with LIFE, among others), releasing their second album Everybody Knows Mickey, recorded with Henri D’Armancourt (Steve Amber, The Psychotic Monks), mixed by Alex Greaves (Heavy Lungs, LICE), and released via Cowboy À La Mode, À Tant Rêver Du Roi (FR) and Brutalist Records (UK). The album was warmly received on both sides of the Channel and drew attention from the French national press.
From 2022 to 2024, the trio played extensively alongside bands like Slift, METZ, Frustration, Pogo Car Crash Control, PENICHE, and Stuffed Foxes, refining a live sound that’s raw, noisy, sometimes tender — and always loud. Because yes, This Will Destroy Your Ears love people… they just tend to tell them a bit too loudly. Meanwhile, they built Recording United, their own studio nestled in the heart of Kontainer, a multidisciplinary hub in the Landes — part Warhol’s Factory, part Death By Audio’s DIY activism.
Their third album, FUNLAND, is the first to be entirely recorded there. Inspired by their UK tours — and especially the decaying Technicolor charm of Blackpool — the album takes its name from a run-down amusement park: a magical mess of dying slot machines, sad clowns, and buzzing neon. A pop nightmare postcard, somewhere between David Lynch and Stephen King.
Produced and mixed by Ben Hampson (DITZ, Lambrini Girls) and mastered by Katie Tavini (Bloc Party, Los Bitchos), FUNLAND will be released on October 10, 2025 via Luik Music (BE), À Tant Rêver Du Roi (FR), Cowboy À La Mode, and Conicle Records (on cassette, of course).
